Lesson On Priorities
Whew! I’m still alive and kicking despite my week-long fast of instant yakisoba noodles. I survived Singapore with only $5! A feat, definitely. Don’t know if this is anything but good news, though to the weight-conscious it should; I lost close to 3 kilos.
Now that a new week has ushered in, I can probably expect things to look up for me, financially that is. Moving into my new room near Tiong Bahru is a sign of good things to come. I believe I made the right decision to get that place since it’s very central and the people I live with are nice. Rent’s going to take a big chunk of my salary though but seeing how much I’m going to save on transportation (okay, maybe it’ll be minimal but it’s still a good reason) I’m willing to give it a chance to be my “home away from home”.
And because I am so organized like so, I have doodled room ideas to start adding some personality into it. Although after finding out that I pretty much can’t do anything with it, repainting the walls and a freedom wall may have to be set aside, for now. I’m going to be poring over magazines and whatnots to get something on my walls. God knows I have to cover up the Hello Kitty remnants on the wardrobe’s door. At night, when the lights are out and there are shadows in my walls, it doesn’t look so bad. Well, I can’t keep my lights out all the time!
Therefore, top priorities are getting some funky curtains, bed linens that are screaming “notice me!”, and pillows that are so soft and fluffy I could drown in them when I sleep.
Checking my wallet I realize that I have no money. Why? Because I spent all of it on this and everyone who knows about the purchase thinks I’m mad. Apparently I’d rather have a very cool stereo bluetooth headset than eat. Well my dears, that’s life. Sacrifices must be made, and this is one of them that I’m willing to make. In retrospect, however, I do think it’s kind of crazy spending $90 on an item that could equal to a week’s worth of yummy food. But in order to retain some dignity in my self-worth I must say that I got it on a fifty percent discount just by batting my eyelash. Uh-huh…I know, I am the Bargaining Queen.
As if all of the more important things in life could wait, I’m being coaxed into coming to KL this weekend. KL Sing Song is happening and I’m interested to see Mia Palencia and Yuna play; the rest I leave to Lainie to fill me in. Zouk’s got something happening that weekend as well. It’s by invitation only, I think; dude I just want to see the neon lights.
The BIG question of the week: Is it worth it to blow my money on a weekend getaway to KL?
My gut feeling tells me it is since I need a holiday, a break, a massage, a warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream from DELIcious, and some serious chicken satay. But I will try to be mature about it and give it until Wednesday to decide.
