#BAD09 Climate Change
Today, more than 7,000 9,000 blogs from across 136 151 countries will blog about climate change. It’s Blog Action Day y’all!
I don’t think there is a more fitting topic this year than climate change. With the U.N.’s Cllimate Change Conference happening this December in Copenhagen and the recent natural disasters that hit us, now’s the time to fully see the impact our human ways has affected the Earth.
For the Philippines, the recent flash floods caused by super typhoon Ondoy, wasn’t only an indication of the poor sewerage system in the country but also the tremendous effect the warming of the earth has on climate change. Even with more than 20 typhoons hitting the Philippines each year, it has never been this bad.
Climate change is a global problem. Everyone is affected by it whether we see the severity of its effects or not. Despite this, it doesn’t mean that solutions to the problem rely only on people such as head of states or legislators. Of course, laws to prevent further environmental degradation will help but ultimately, if we don’t let our sentiments known or if we do not have that inner desire to make a difference, then change isn’t going to happen.
Never underestimate the power of the people. We can make a difference even in our humble ways. If you’re looking to making that first step or if you want to do more, you can start off with this list.
Here’s to hoping we all find a way to a better tomorrow.
