This comes way long overdue. Still, I think these deserve some eyeballs.

Been addicted to fishtail braids and had always wanted to make them on my own. I found a video tutorial from Refinery 29′s Hot Summer Hairstyles to Beat the Heat. Will have to give it a go one of these days.
I’ve never seen so many gorgeous men like the ones exiting the Dolce & Gabbana show!
Dressing up for work has always been casual for me. I try and dress it up with a jacket or some high heels whenever the need arises. Refinery29 definitely gave me more ideas and gives me more reason to upgrade my wardrobe.
Tavi calls out on Seventeen Magazine. She raised a very good point on how the magazine tries to discourage young girls from doing drugs by implying that they will look fat and, therefore, ugly.
Don’t think I’d have survived moving to a new city without friends. Even though they’re new, you can kind of feel who would be the ones to stick around. The New York Times talked about Friendship in an Age of Economics and Harvard Business Review tells us Why Friends Matter at Work and in Life
I think I waited too long before catching Toy Story 3. Now all the 3D shows are gone and I have yet to see it. In any case, here’s Five Ways Pixar Makes Better Decisions.

Hip To Be Square

Innovation doesn’t usually require out-of-this-world ideas. Take something simple and make it better is usually the formula to be one.

Square is now one of those companies whom I admire for such kind of innovation. Fine, they may not be the pioneers but I am a sucker for “sexy” design as pointed out by the ReadWriteWeb guys.

I think it’s evident that I will fall in love with Square, it does give me that same feeling as with other web applications I support – Smarty Pig, Daylite, Good Barry – because well, they’re all good products.

Pinching Where It Counts

The 10 Unexpected Costs of Owning Things by Christine Gilbert is one of those posts that I would never tire of reading. It’s especially relevant now that gift-giving season is here and I’m always left wondering why I never have enough money to get my loved ones what they deserve. Heck, I don’t even have enough to get myself a gift. Plus with tax season coming up in a few months, I really wish I had more money sense tucked into me to make all the ends meet. To me, death and taxes are synonymous or, at the very least, have a causal relationship.

On a non sour note, I seem to think of nothing but girls this week. Ha! I was finally able to catch An Education after falling in love with the idea of it. I’ve always enjoyed Nick Hornby‘s work so this should come as no surprise. Besides, I am crushing on Carey Mulligan in the film. I would highly suggest watching this film and making your own opinion of it. Although I am fairly certain it will be a positive one.

Is it just me or should the last line read, “Let it carry on WITH us, today“? It feels like it should because of all the activities mentioned throughout that resembles living in the present. At the end it says the world will go on “without you and me when we’re gone” but right now we’re still here so let’s make the most out of it.
