In Good Company

It’s Sunday and the only thing I could think of doing is lying down in bed all day watching movies and catching up on TV shows.  Well okay, maybe get some exercise done too because I need it but otherwise it’s a lazy day for me.

I’m still in my hermit mode but I did manage to go out on Thursday night with some girlfriends. And even though the supposed “party” we wanted to go to didn’t really feel much of being one, we had a blast anyway. Great company always trumps anything so I’m quite happy to have found people where I don’t need alcohol to make them seem interesting.

And to make it a streak, I hung out on Friday with my good friend Alvin. We grabbed brunch and then split up while he watched a movie and I had a haircut then reconvened for some shoe shopping and Italian food. Trust me, it was a lazy day, that one, and I was nursing a headache but I stuck it out because nothing beats hanging out with a good friend. Besides, we’re the type that’s comfortable in our silence.

Anyway, here’s the aftermath of the so-called trim. It looks so much unruly now though especially since I can’t blowdry it as good as this.

Yesterday was equally fun too. I know I like doing Movie Nights alone but yesterday I did it with Janick.  We met at Book Café first for some coffee and hazelnut chocolate cake before heading off for movies.  It was mafia themed as we watched Il Divo, a biopic on former Italian Prime Minister Giulio Andreotti who’s been accused of being in cahoots with the mafia.  We also saw Bullitt, a 1968 film about a politician trying to bring down a mafia boss by using his brother as a witness and all hell breaks loose when the witness gets gunned down.  Both films have very good music and the cinematography for the former was superb.

To top the evening’s fun factor, we had pizza in between sips of red wine.  It’s refreshing to hangout with someone and not feel like I’d rather shoot myself in the head, no?  Well I must say this weekend has been all about good company.  Should do it more often.

Action, Reaction

I’m finally getting some semblance of a life here.  I’m not exactly thrilled about where things are at the moment but, like I always say, “it definitely could be better”.  Work-wise, it’s still busy and stressful. Financial-wise, um……

Okay, so maybe I need to start getting a grip on this money thing soon, huh?  I’m just so used to the student approach of dealing with it that I sometimes forget that I have no parents to back me up—well, at least I try not to.

Let’s just dance the blues away, shall we?

Recursive Dreaming

A first or, to be more precise, perhaps the first I vividly remember.  Although you know how dreams operate, the more you try to remember the more it fades in memory.  It’s probably a lame kind of nightmare too — now that I think about it — but it sure made me feel horrible.  I mean, I go on a vacation and midway through that I realize I hadn’t really filed for leave and therefore, had all of my work unsupervised.  Don’t know if that makes me a sad, poor girl or what.  I think I’ve been daydreaming about going on vacation for days on end and the fact that I’ve been swamped with work — well put two and two together and that’s what you get.  Then again, it is Labor Day.
