One of the major things that happened was that I finally got an iPhone.  OMG!

It’s just one of those things that most of the people who know me, know that I’ve been lusting over for ages.  I even began downloading apps into iTunes beginning of this year because I always knew I’d be a proud owner of one soon.  You can just imagine how utterly easy it was for me to get it, sync it, and begin using it as if I’ve owned one since the beginning.  You could also say I’m quite addicted to it as much as I am addicted to my Macbook.

To be honest, I’m kind of biting the bullet here for having acquired the iPhone but my old mobile phone gave up on me the day before my order notification for the iPhone came.

Was it a sign? Definitely.

Christmas is fast approaching.  How many days left?  8?

I’m spending the holidays without the family and this will be the second one I miss.  I’m sure they understand but my mom’s a bit flustered by the whole thing.  You know how mothers get when their kids leave home, right?  She’s being all dramatic about it but perhaps a few more emails and she’ll calm down.

Anyway, I’m ringing up a few posts before work consumes me again next week.  I have happily taken two days leave for today and tomorrow, which means I get an extended weekend.  That should probably be enough time for me to get my groove back and start posting again.

Square is now one of those companies whom I admire for such kind of innovation.  Fine, they may not be the pioneers but I am a sucker for “sexy” design as pointed out by the ReadWriteWeb guys.

I think it’s evident that I will fall in love with Square, it does give me that same feeling as with other web applications I support – Smarty Pig, Daylite, Good Barry – because well, they’re all good products.

As much as the Halloween parties are tempting, October is still hermit month for me so I’m skipping all of them. I did, however, attend a launch and rebranding party by HTC last Thursday, which I think went okay except for the fact that I would have preferred them using “quiet brilliance” as their tagline rather than “quietly brilliant”.  And this is not me saying I have anything against adverbs because I don’t.

It would have been great if there were actual HTC Tattoo units for us to play with because, you know, it was a phone launch party too.  Just saying.

Anyway, I’m excited to laze around in bed and watch horror movies.  What are you doing this Halloween?

Can you tell I look so happy when this arrived in the mail?  Well, not so fast.

The Flip Mino HD won’t charge. [expletives deleted]

I don’t know what to do since I obviously don’t have warranty for this.  I’m very disappointed, not only because I waited a month for this to arrive, but also because I won it from Cisco.  If you’re not sure about where I’m going at with this let’s just say that Cisco bought Pure Digital Technologies and they, in turn, own and manufacture The Flip Camcorders.  Can you see it now?

I won’t even go into details at the stupidity that went into packing it but basically, the Flip box was housed in a bigger box. It’d have been alright if there was bubble wrap—wait, actually there was bubble wrap, only they didn’t really wrap it with it.  I don’t know about you guys but this makes me want to shoot myself in the head.  Common sense is all I ask—bubble “wrap”—how hard can it be?

So maybe those videos will have to wait.

Awww…this sucks balls.

UPDATE: Of course, I had to contact support for this and they’ve been very kind to reply to my ticket in a few hours’ time.  I found out that the Flip Mino HD actually charges for about 30-45 minutes then the screen starts to flash “It’s really hot; charging stopped” on the screen.  I now let it sit out for awhile before trying again and, sure enough, it starts charging–must be the hot Singapore weather too.  So I’m going to try and charge it in the office where it’s freezing cold, maybe that will do the trick.  But really, thanks for the support team over at Flip for the fast turnaround.  Great customer support almost always appeases the customer.

Honestly, I thought my luck ran out especially after my recent wins and—you know what—I wasn’t even pooped on since then. Whatever it is, I’m not complaining.

Can you imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning and saw this?

Now all I need to do is sit and wait for my Flip Mino HD Camcorder to arrive in the mail.  Excited to start shooting especially since I’ll be using it a lot more for when Xhatch launches (but more about that on a later post).
