Hip To Be Square

Innovation doesn’t usually require out-of-this-world ideas.  Take something simple and make it better is usually the formula to be one.

Square is now one of those companies whom I admire for such kind of innovation.  Fine, they may not be the pioneers but I am a sucker for “sexy” design as pointed out by the ReadWriteWeb guys.

I think it’s evident that I will fall in love with Square, it does give me that same feeling as with other web applications I support – Smarty Pig, Daylite, Good Barry – because well, they’re all good products.

Going Off-Grid

I’ve had that feeling of wanting to just disappear. Obviously I didn’t want this to happen in a less than pleasant manner (i.e. being abducted by aliens or being kidnapped for human trafficking) but of something caused by my own accord. Disappearing does take some mojo to pull off and I’m attached to my connections more than I would care to admit.  But I’ve done some of the more reasonable and fairly safe ways of doing so.

Evan Ratliff, now there’s a man who’s gutsy enough to go off-grid for a month.  Ratfliff who writes for Wired decided to take up the challenge of vanishing for a month while offering a finder’s prize of $5,000 to whoever could locate and identify him.   This online mystery saga/reality show came about with the question: How hard is it to vanish in the digital age?

If there is one story you must read this week, this has got to be it.

Turn Of Events

Love this photo taken with @mhisham‘s Olympus Pen E-P1 during the INQ event held yesterday. With me are bloggers Jayden and DK.  Surprisingly, even though I felt like I was being dragged out of bed to go head out and socialize, I had loads of fun.  Yeay to wonderful people from online!
